The Acoustic Club held their first Acoustic Night of the year on Friday, showcasing returning performers as well as newcomers.
The show featured 15 different songs, ranging from folk tunes to modern pop. All proceeds from the show went to Bay Area Music Project, a non-profit that helps young musicians gain access to music lessons and equipment.
Sophomore Andrew Everett, a first time performer, sang and played “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right” by Bob Dylan on the guitar and harmonica.

“I saw [the show] last year, and I’ve been playing the guitar since I was eight, so I was just like, ‘Why not?,’” Everett said. “I wanted to get into more clubs this year because I don’t feel like I was active enough on campus last year.”
Senior Sarah Osband, who is the president of Acoustic Club, performed “So Easy (To Fall in Love)” by Olivia Dean with senior Aesa Medower.

“This club has meant so much to me,” Osband said. “I joined it at the end of freshman year and did not expect to fall in love as much as I did. Knowing that I play such a big role in creating community and putting on these amazing concerts for our community is so special.”
The show featured students across grades and musical styles. One of Everett’s favorite parts of the night was talking to other performers.
“There’s a certain amount of relief when you’re done with your performance, and you can kind of just talk to people,” Everett said. “Coming down from that adrenaline high was nice.”
This show was the first time the Acoustic Club supported musicians through a non-profit organization.
“I realized at the beginning of the year that our community has so much privilege just to be able to put on these acoustic nights and have access to lessons, instruments and performance spaces, and there’s so many people in our community who don’t get access to these resources,” Osband said. “I want to play even a small role in being able to make music education and performance more accessible.”
The next Acoustic Night will be held on Feb. 6.
“Just do it. Once you’re up there, it’s really fun, and you just have to have the confidence to go get it, and I’m sure it’ll be great,” Everett said.
