The band and choir programs hosted their annual Scoops and Tunes concert on Tuesday. Audience members were offered ice cream in an effort to encourage donations, which will help fund scholarships and band camp.

Band director Chris Nalls and assistant director Andrew Kuykendall conducted the bands. Seniors Cassie Baker and Sydney Elliott emceed the night while Sean Ngo, Asher Anh and Dante Olivera-Lee produced the concert.

The choir, directed by Barbara West, opened the night with “On My Own” from “Les Misérables,” featuring a solo by senior Lauren Quimby, “The Greatest Show” from “The Greatest Showman” with solo vocals from Dashiel Bauman and “Hello Goodbye” by The Beatles including solo vocals from senior Leila Calvert.

The Jazz Band performance followed, playing “Another Day of Sun” from “La La Land,” “Over the Rainbow” from “The Wizard of Oz,” “Carnival Kerfuffle” from the video game “Cuphead” and “Hey Pachuco” from “The Mask.” Each song included solos from various band members.

During the intermission after the Jazz Band, guests received ice cream and were given the opportunity to donate more to the fundraiser.

The Concert Band performed after intermission, with music from the film “The Incredibles” and “From the Start” by Laufey, both including alto saxophone solos by freshman Dante Olivera-Lee. They ended with “Great Rubber Chicken Gallop” by Randall Standridge.

Next came the Symphonic Band, which performed “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” narrated by Nalls and featuring solos from violinist Shravan Saranyan. “For Good” from “Wicked” and “Live and Let Die” by Wings finished their set.

Ending the night, the Wind Ensemble played “Kiki’s Delivery Service” by Joe Hisaishi and “Underneath the Lovely London Sky” from “Mary Poppins Returns,” featuring vocals by Landon Allen. Finally, they played “Scherzo for X-Wings” from the Star Wars franchise.
