The 7-Eleven on Branham Lane is set to close on May 5.
For many students, the convenience store has been an accessible place to grab snacks or meet up with friends. Its closure is expected to change daily routines for students who regularly rely on it.
The decision to close the store came from 7-Eleven corporate and franchise management.

An aisle is left empty.
As the closure approached, inventory was reduced and staff hours were cut, marking a gradual transition as the store officially closed. Items excluding alcohol were on sale for up to 50% off.
According to the Associated Press, 7-Eleven’s parent company, Seven & i Holdings Co., plans to close more than 600 stores across North America in 2026. The company cited shifting consumer spending and inflation as factors, noting that demand has lessened, especially among lower-income customers.
While it’s unclear if the Branham Lane location is part of the exact count, the closing reflects a larger trend affecting convenience stores nationwide.
